Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport / Wold-Chamberlain Field (MSP) is the primary commercial airport for the Twin Cities and the busiest airport in the Upper Midwest, with routes to domestic and international destinations worldwide. This metal print draws from ADS-B flight tracking data, with each flight path colorized by altitude and rendered across your chosen palette.
The print shows all 6,014 flights recorded July 5-10, 2025, on the 98th anniversary of Northwest Airways' first passenger flight, the event that launched commercial aviation from this field. Printed direct-to-metal on an aluminum panel, it ties a century of flight to a single, dateable moment in the sky.

MSP handled 6,014 flights across six days in early July 2025, averaging just over 1,000 movements per day and 41.8 flights per hour around the clock. Arrivals and departures split almost perfectly evenly at 3,007 each. July 10 was the busiest single day at 1,089 total movements, while July 5 came in lightest at 834. The 4 PM hour (16:00 CDT) carried the heaviest load of any hour in the window, with 413 total movements including 217 departures and 196 arrivals. The overnight hours were thin but never silent, with a floor of 14 total movements logged in the 2 AM hour. The route network leaned heavily on a handful of hubs. Chicago O'Hare led all city pairs with 215 combined movements, followed closely by Denver at 209. Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Phoenix each cleared 100 or more total movements for the six-day period. Los Angeles and Las Vegas both ranked in the top ten as well. The 1,156 unique aircraft captured included 1,110 registered to the United States, with 28 Canadian-registered aircraft and a small spread of European and other international registrations making up the rest of the fleet. Approach and departure tracks concentrated most heavily to the southeast, with SE and ESE together accounting for roughly 900 movements in each direction. Cruise altitudes clustered between 35,000 and 39,000 feet, the single most populated band in the altitude distribution. The average leg distance was 708 nautical miles at an average groundspeed of 292 knots. The longest individual flight in the dataset arrived from San Juan (SJU) at 2,352 nautical miles, while a departure to Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) reached the highest recorded altitude at 49,175 feet.

Reviews from customers across our airport print collection.
Great gift to commemorate trip!
We ordered the LHR image (aurora/light) as a gift for our son who is in college and training to be a commercial airline pilot. We had taken a family trip to London and this was the perfect gift for him. He loved the image, and immediately scanned the included QR code to review the flight data that is available to support each map. The quality and delivery timing were exceptional. We will definitely order more!

Thank you for your review, Nathan! We wish your son the best on his journey to becoming a pilot.
Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport traces its origins to 1920, when a wooden hangar was built at a former auto-racing venue called Snelling Speedway to support airmail service, and the site became known as Speedway Field. In 1923, it was renamed Wold-Chamberlain Field in honor of Ernest Wold and Cyrus Chamberlain, two local pilots killed in World War I. On July 5, 1927, Northwest Airways flew its first paying passenger, St. Paul businessman Byron Webster, from the Twin Cities to Chicago, inaugurating commercial aviation at the field that would grow into MSP. The airport took its current name in 1948 with the arrival of international service.
Today MSP is the dominant hub of the Upper Midwest, located within 10 miles of both downtown Minneapolis and downtown Saint Paul. Delta Air Lines is the airport's anchor carrier, accounting for roughly 65 percent of passenger traffic. Sun Country Airlines and Endeavor Air, a Delta regional subsidiary, are also based here. The airport operates 2 terminals and 131 gates: Terminal 1, named for Charles Lindbergh, who was raised in Minnesota, spans 117 gates across 7 concourses; Terminal 2, named for Vice President Hubert Humphrey, holds 14 gates. In 2023, analytics firm Cirium recognized MSP as the world's most punctual international airport, with on-time departure and arrival rates above 84 percent.
MSP is also a joint civil-military facility, sharing the field with the Air Force Reserve's 934th Airlift Wing and the Minnesota Air National Guard's 133rd Airlift Wing. A light-rail line links both terminals to the Mall of America and the downtowns of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. MSP is the only airport in the United States where its 2 commercial terminals sit on entirely separate roadway systems.
