This page captures three days of ADS-B traffic at Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX/LAX), spanning September 1 through September 3, 2025, on the 40th anniversary of LAX serving as the primary airport for the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. Over that window, 4,211 flights were recorded: 2,072 arrivals, 2,086 departures, and 53 touch-and-goes. A total of 1,536 unique aircraft appeared in the data, collectively covering 3,760,576 nautical miles. The busiest single hour was 14:00 PDT, which logged 326 flights, with departures outpacing arrivals 202 to 121 during that hour. The overnight hours were the quietest, dropping to 22 total movements at 04:00, and arrivals dominated the early morning window from 04:00 through 07:00 before departures caught up through midday. San Francisco (SFO) was the top route by total movements at 172 flights, followed by Las Vegas (LAS) at 155 and Seattle (SEA) at 112. Denver, JFK, and Chicago O'Hare each logged between 90 and 102 combined movements. Approach directions were concentrated to the ENE (515) and E (367), with NW (299) and NE (189) also accounting for substantial traffic. Departure headings showed a similar distribution, led by ENE (502) and E (371). Aircraft registered in the United States made up 1,154 of the 1,536 unique aircraft, with Canada (57), China (38), the United Kingdom (25), and Japan (22) also represented. Altitude data spanned from ground level to a peak of 51,050 feet, with the highest density of ADS-B position points clustered between 36,000 and 38,000 feet. The average recorded altitude across all 3,224,182 ADS-B data points was 20,514 feet, and average groundspeed was 337 knots. The shortest tracked flight was an 8.5-nautical-mile, 8-minute arrival from Compton Woodley Airport (CPM). The longest was a 4,662-nautical-mile, 824-minute arrival logged from Travis Air Force Base (SUU). The highest-altitude flight, reaching 51,050 feet, was a departure to Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) operated by Argentine-registered aircraft LV-KLH.
